Test Overview
The syphilis test is a laboratory test used to screen for and help diagnose syphilis, a sexually transmitted infection (STI). Testing may involve non-treponemal tests such as RPR or VDRL and/or treponemal tests such as TPHA/TPPA or specific treponemal antibody tests. A positive screening result usually requires additional testing to confirm the diagnosis and determine whether infection is active or previously treated.
